That was the 70's
Polk might have sold a set or two. I think they did rentals,
They were very small then...
I knew they did some pro audio but first time I have seen that.
I stumbled across this tonight:
Polk Audio - HitMaster Gaming Speaker: Intense Audio for Music Games
scroll down a little, check out their "concert" stack!?
I have uploaded a copy of the photo here as well.
Crazy I say!

Gee, they didn't take any liberty there did they?
I believe i spy, a 203, some 511's, a 210 split?, and pair of 825/828.
OTOH, this would be strong evidence to suggest they were focused on good sound right from the beginning.
Not all vegetables make good leaders.
I am wondering if those are 311-90's rather than 511's?
Can't see a mounting flange but there almost has to be one doesn't there? Dunno, it looks bigger than a 511 to me.
Nothing like a great big pair of speakers to make your day.

Nifty!
I am no expert (and stacks of horns are always great to see) , but seems like there is some FR redundancy there.
In other words, I'd wonder if that was actually setup and crossed over with some intention, or, if just stacked up for visual effect. (?)
Now that you mention it, their scale does seem a bit grand for 511's.I am wondering if those are 311-90's rather than 511's?

Blew up the pic an the dividers are thick ala 311.:2thumbsup:
As far as stacking, they prolly didn't know any better. things were pre computer and a lot less sophisticated then.
Or could be the 203's were used to punch the vocal to the back. Common practice.

The 203 was always my favorite 300Hz. Altec multicellular for living room horn mania. The imaging from the narrow pattern horn is really good.
The ports on the 825's are, well, wide open as they can be.
